How To Make A Spicy Crab Sushi Roll

This easy to make spicy crab sushi roll is a great way to begin learning how to make your own sushi at home. I love making a wide variety of sushi rolls in my own kitchen, especially when I am headed to a social event. This spicy krab roll is not only easy to make, but creates a feeling of excitement throughout the whole room when I bring it with me to parties. This spicy crab roll is sure to satisfy any sushi appetite.

Equipment to Make sushi Roll:
Sushi Mat
Sharp Serrated Knife
1 Gallon Freezer Bag

Spicy Crab Roll Ingredients:
Sushi Rice (prepared, one large handful)
Nori Sheet (1/2)
Toasted Sesame Seeds
Black Sesame Seeds
Spicy Crab (srirachi hot sauce, shredded imitation crab sticks, masago, mayonnaise)

Cover your sushi mat to prevent the rice from sticking to it by placing it inside of a gallon size freezer bag, pressing it down to release all of the air, and sealing it well. Place the 1/2 sheet of Nori onto the freezer bag and add a small palmful of sushi prepared rice. Make sure to spread the sushi prepared rice out to the edges of the role evenly. Sprinkle the black and toasted sesame seeds over the sushi rice. Be careful not to add too many as the toasted sesame seeds present a very strong flavor which can be overpowering. More can always be added later. Flip the roll over so that it is Nori side up. Shred the imitation crab sticks in a bowl, and add mayonnaise and srirachi hot sauce to taste.

I love to add masago as well because of the tanginess and texture that it adds to this spicy crab roll. Mix all of the ingredients together gently ensuring that they are not mashed in the process. Evenly apply the spicy crab mix across the center of the roll in a line while making sure not to overfill it. Make sure that you have applied a uniform amount across the entire center line of the Nori seaweed. Grab the edges of the Nori sheet that are closest to you and use your fingers to tuck the spicy crab filling into the spicy crab roll as you roll the Nori sheet over to touch it's opposite end. Make sure that there is not any crab filling on place where the Nori seaweed needs to seal together. Press down again to ensure that a good seal has formed. Using a wet serrated knife cut the sushi roll in half once, then again, and again.
